The Long and the Short of it

So you wear your hair short because it suits your lifestyle or is a requirement because of your occupation. The long and the short of it, is that now you can have real or synthetic  hair extensions when the moment arrives in much the same way as many of our catwalk models and actresses do today. The most important fact is that hair extensions are not a wig. They do not scratch or itch you although it can feel strange at first!

In essence, hair extensions are hair entwined into your own, colour matched and styled exactly the way you want it to be.

Below is a simple explanation of some of the types available. Any hairdresser will be able to discuss suitability of any particular hair type including our own experienced senior stylist, Melissa who specialises in this.

Clip-in Hairhair-extension

The gentlest type of hair extension and depending on how much volume you need then we will apply more or less clips to give that desired effect.

Bonding and Sealing

Normally lasting up to 4 months, extensions are plaited to your real hair and then painted with a bonding agent that seals the extension to stop it loosening.

Single Hair Extensions

This is real hair bonded to individual strands of your own to give that natural move and swing as you walk around.

Weaves

The most popular will give you up to 18″ additional hair length but may go upwards to 30″ depending on the length of your own hair. It is not a good idea to have too longer extension, as this might affect your natural hair.

It is important to note that all types of hair extensions require maintenance, so please ensure you are fully aware of this before leaving your saloon. As hair extensions can apply equally to men as well; maybe you like to enquire about a ‘his n hers’ joint appointment?
